Congratulations to Team Stonefly anglers Jason Buffkin, Michael Yelton, Paul Thompson, and Michael Sprouse, all of whom placed in the top ten at the 2010 Pisgah Fly Masters!
After the Saturday casting rounds, Thompson stood atop the professional division, with Yelton in second, Sprouse in fourth, and Buffkin in the fifth and final professional slot.
Buffkin and Yelton followed up Saturday’s success in Sunday’s early morning fishing round by finishing in the top five. Thompson and Sprouse missed the cut to advance to round two, with Thompson falling short by only a few inches.
At the end of round two, Buffkin and Josh Stephens of Team USA stood tied, both in total fish length and in time of finish. As a result, the two advanced to a sudden death fish off with a shotgun start!
After a full blown sprint to their water, Stephens caught and landed a fish on his second cast, 58 seconds into the sudden death round. An amazing finish to a great tournament.
Based upon unofficial results, Buffkin finished second, Yelton fifth, Thompson sixth, and Sprouse eighth. What a great way to start the competitive season!

Congrats guys! Hope to carry my own weight at the next one!
Great job guys! Wish I had been there to see it!
No way Buffkin lost a sprint to the water… I’ve seen him move.
